Study notes

円 means 'circle, round' and is the name of the Japanese currency, the yen.

Kun reading: まるい (円い, round); in daily writing for round shapes, however, 丸い (まるい) is used more often.

Remember: coins are indicated with 〜円玉: 百円玉 (ひゃくえんだま, hundred yen coin). The traditional form of the kanji is 圓.
